After the start of Russia’s full, scale invasion in 2022, Ukraine has turned its defense sector quite quickly into a battlefield innovation center, with artificial intelligence as its main focus. AI now forms the basis of a multitude of operational areas: from real, time battle coordination and autonomous drones to cyber defense and digital forensics. Within just two years, a whole ecosystem of Ukrainian defense technology has appeared, which gathers more than 1,500 developers and caters to over 3,600 projects. The whole markets for breakthrough innovations have been created and e.g. unmanned ground vehicles, short, range electronic warfare systems, interceptor drones, AI, enabled drones with terminal guidance, and fiber, optic drones, most of them aimed at increasing precision, speed, and survivability on the front line, are some of the products.
